This has got to be one of the best free forms on sustainable living and nature spirituality that I have found on the net, or would be if it had any activity. tons of great topics and intelligent members. So why the lack of interest? I'd love to see what everyone thinks about how to bring the posts back up to a maximum.
Thanks as always,
Klurik |

Thanks, Klurik -
I also think this board has a lot of potential, and I'm all ears if you have any ideas for bringing in more traffic. I'm currently in the process of cleaning out the user database, getting rid of all the fake spam users, but I will have some time after that to see what can be done.
Take care,

Interesting idea, Justin, thanks! I'll definitely add that to my "things to look at soon" list. |

I get busy doing other things and forget to check in. Too bad I can't hook it up to my Google Reader or my Live Journal.
Maybe if someone's starting a discussion they could post a link to the discussion over on AODA Public? Just the one time and people have to go to the forum to discuss. Or if it's a crafty/material thing they can post a link to the AODA Craft list. _________________ You must be the change you want to see in the world.

I know I'm too darn busy to be active on forums. I'd like to see if I have some extra time to spend on this one and some of the other Druid ones.
Too busy gardening actually, so still trying to be sustainable, just not in the virtual world.

Darius, I have no idea. I'd love it if this were to "come back to life" again, though. I think it had a lot to offer. Maybe it was a bit ahead of it's time.
I'm willing to spend some time on here again and upload some more stuff from my files, and have some good conversations, if others are of like mind. |

OK so I'm the new guy on the block I guess so I guess I'll start off with a little introduction. My name is Mike and I live in Tampa Fl. Yea, I hate the snow. I'm retired military and a amateur radio operator (KG4BCN) just recently got involved with the Druid community even though I've been a pagan for probably close to 20 years. I have to say this is the best lifestyle.
I am currently involved with the ADF and am going through their Dedicant program. I'm interested in finding out how similar or differently each group runs.
I've noticed that it's been awhile since there has been a large amount of post. LETS MAKE SOME NOISE. |

Mike, so, besides the lack of snow, what do you like most about Florida? Do you do much gardening there?
That's cool about the ADF - do you have any groves nearby?

The lack of snow is the biggest deal here in Florida, when I was in the Army I woke up one morning on a mountaintop in Japan in about 4 foot of snow with the rest of my platoon and we had to walk out of the area. After about a mile of cross-country we got to a road and walked about 11 miles back to the base camp area. Other than the lack of snow I'd have to say the warm temperature is the next best thing about Florida. Year round you can get out and do something. There is always something to do here.
Gardening around here can be a pain because of the "sand" not too much soil---it's all sand. I've been working with planter boxes for the last couple of years. That can be interesting also.
Finally, the closest grove for the ADF around here is about 4 or 5 hours north of here so right now I'm stuck on the solitary path. For now anyway. There are a few of us playing around with the idea of starting up our own grove. It's a race to see who gets their clergy course completed first. |

Hey Mike, glad you're enjoying living in FL!
I live in western MA in the hilltowns, where we definitely have snow -- not 4 feet of it though
I like warm weather but not too warm or too humid, so FL's definitely not for me. But seeing as not everyone can fit in one place in the world, it's probably a good thing we have different preferences.
I live on a farm with my husband and my in-laws. Some sustainability things are harder to do here because they're kind of used to doing things certain ways. On the other hand, it is a New England farm, so some things they do are more sustainable than most folks do -- like being handy at fixing things as much as possible with what's already on the farm and not just jumping at buying something new when something's getting a little worn. We do have a few small tractors here (a combine wouldn't be able to get up the hill to here!), but one of our most-often used ones is from the 1950s. And with help and enthusiasm from us, they're getting back into expanding the veggie and fruit gardens again. _________________ You must be the change you want to see in the world.
